Competitive video gaming is a booming industry.   97% of teenagers play video games, and 10% of high schools have Esports clubs. Studies show that high school students involved in Esports increase their GPA by 1.7 and their attendance by 10%.  Oklahoma State University will be launching an Esports arena this year. In March 2020, Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis made the quick and unprecedented decision to transition to a virtual campus for the remainder of the spring semester to slow the spread of COVID-19. Faculty and staff quickly adjusted to allow for online learning, and spent the summer transforming campus to make it safe for students to return in the fall. OStateTV’s Meghan Robinson spoke with six people in various departments at Oklahoma State to hear their firsthand accounts about the process of constructing a safe university environment during a pandemic.

This spring for the first time in over a year, OSU Stillwater’s commencement ceremonies will be an in person event. Graduates from the class of 2020 and 2021 will be able to walk across the stage to receive their diploma.  There will be new protocols in place to keep everyone safe.
