We are only 4 weeks into the new academic year and now is the perfect time for students to set themselves up for success both in the classroom and around campus. In this week's Inside OSU Podcast, OStateTV's, Meghan Robinson speaks with Interim Provost, Dr. Chris Francisco and SGA President, Jack Edwards. They both offer unique perspective on resources available for students to improve academically and thrive as a Cowboy!

Darren Shrum has a pretty impressive resume. He’s worked in corporate America, owned his own businesses and even has a passion for “tricking out” cars. On July 1, he became the first person ever to add Oklahoma State University First Cowboy to his work experience. In this week’s Inside OSU Podcast,  OStateTV’s, Meghan Robinson, met with Darren to learn more about his career paths, family and what he’s looking forward to during his first year in Stillwater…  

It started at the end of World War II with the one dollar purchase of an Army hospital in Okmulgee.  Since then, the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology, or OSUIT has advanced into Oklahoma’s only University focusing on applied technology. On July 1, 2021, Dr. Kayse Shrum became the first female president of Oklahoma State University.  Prior to this groundbreaking achievement, Dr. Shrum served as President of OSU Center of Health Sciences, was a practicing pediatrician, and an accomplished athlete. Oklahoma State University’s police department is committed to protecting the Stillwater campus. Their jurisdiction reaches as far as Lake Carl Blackwell and they even have officers dedicated to OSU-Tulsa. The COVID-19 vaccine was made available to adults in December 2020. Vaccination rates in Oklahoma started out strong, but quickly slowed. As of the end July of July, only 40% of Oklahomans are fully vaccinated. OStateTV’s, Meghan Robinson, spoke with Oklahoma State alumna and Vice President of Strategy and Service Excellence for Aetna, Dr. Sonja Hughes, to discuss vaccine hesitancy. The goal of the Institute of Translational and Emerging Research in Advanced Comparative Therapy, or INTERACT, is to find therapies that can be adopted by clinics to practice on both human and animal patients.  INTERACT was launched by Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020.  Maggie Burke sat down with Ashish Ranjan, Director of Interact ,to learn more….

The Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music will hold its grand opening this fall. This new building is equipped with the latest technology for high-level studio production, music laboratories and rehearsal spaces.  It’s also located adjacent to the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts, providing students the opportunity to learn from some of the world’s top musicians. As a land grant university, part of Oklahoma State’s mission is to improve the lives of people in the state and around the world.
